Repair or Replacement of External High Pressure Fuel Line

To determine if repair is possible or replacement is necessary, perform the following procedure. See Figure 26560 . ‪

Flowchart for Repair or Replacement of External High Pressure Fuel Line

Removal of External High Pressure Fuel Line

Pre-cleaning is not necessary. Remove the external high pressure fuel line as follows: ‪

  1. Remove intake manifold. Refer to section .
  2. Remove the external high pressure fuel line retaining nuts from the electronic unit pump (EUP) and internal high pressure fuel line using J 41424.
Inspection of External High Pressure Fuel Line

Inspect the external high pressure fuel line as follows: ‪

  1. Inspect the external high pressure fuel line for stress cracks, gouge marks, bends, or damaged retaining nuts.
  2. If any damage is found, replace the external fuel line.

Installation of External High Fuel Line

Install the external high pressure fuel line as follows: ‪

  1. Position the external high pressure fuel line on the electronic unit pump outlet nozzle and internal high pressure fuel line. Tighten retaining nuts finger tight.
  2. Torque retaining nut to 34-36 N m (25-27 lb ft).
  3. Torque both fuel line nuts to 24-26 N m (18-19 lb ft).
  4. Install intake manifold. Refer to section .
