Remove the strap mounting bolt and remove the mounting strap and alternator, as an assembly, from the oil filter.
Remove the upper alternator mounting bolt and washer. Remove the mounting strap from the alternator.
Check the belt for excessive wear and replace it if necessary.
Install the alternator as follows:
Position the mounting strap on the alternator and install the upper alternator mounting bolt and washer. Tighten the nut 65 Nm (48 lbft). See Figure

Position the other end of the mounting strap on the oil filter and install the strap mounting bolt and washer. Tighten the bolt 40 Nm (30 lbft).
Position the alternator on the mounting bracket and install the lower alternator mounting bolt, nut, and washers. Tighten the nut 50 Nm (37 lbft).
With the belt tension relaxed, install the poly-V belt on the alternator pulley. Release the belt tensioner, automatically putting the correct tension on the belt.
Connect the wiring harness to the alternator, as removed. Tighten the output terminal nut 112 kgcm (100 lbin). Tighten the ground terminal nut 73 kgcm (65 lbin). For other terminals, tighten the nut 22 kgcm (20 lbin).
Spray any exposed terminal connectors with dielectric red enamel or equivalent, as listed in Table
Dielectric Red Enamel Spray
MMM 1602 IVISpray Sealer, Red Electric Grade (Spray-On B6665)
Approved Dielectric Red Enamel
Connect the batteries.
Test the alternator for correct voltage output, using the Intelli-check alternator analyzer, or equivalent. Delco Remy is a registered trademark of Delco Remy America, Inc.
